Underground Large Scale Seasonal Energy Storage for Decarbonised and Reliable Heat
PROJECT BRIEF
Heating and cooling in our homes, cities, and industries represent 50% of the total EU energy demand with 75% coming from fossil fuels.
Accelerating the decarbonisation of the sector and harnessing available renewable sources and innovative solutions is vital to achieve climate neutrality as required by the FitFor55 Package.
USES4HEAT aims to demonstrate innovative, large scale, seasonal thermal energy storage (TES) solutions enabling a future decarbonised and reliable heating supply.
Demonstration sites
USES4HEAT will develop two breakthrough demonstration sites followed by four replication cases in different European regions.
